Lets say you have a company. You apply for some-one's labor. The labor is approved. Then the guy leaves. So you have one approved labor. You can then ask me to give you a "gift" of lets say $30,000 and in due course you will employ me in that position. Technically this is illegal, just like it is to take campaign contributions to vote in a certain way...But in practice it is hard to establish quid pro quo in these cases. More so when the person is willingly paying the money and is not willing to turn on the seller. So people who say you can buy LCs legally are WRONG.

Why is Gary looking outside of USA to tap potential home buyers? Just for folks who aren't aware - there are 500,000 high skilled legal immigrant already in USA who are waiting in queue for numbers of years to get their Permanent Residency. Thanks to the limited visa availability based on country chargeability (birth of applicant) and inefficiency of immigration system, these highly skilled, tax paying and law abiding immgrants are waiting for their Green Card (Permanent residency). Some of them have studied here, worked here for years and US is almost a second home to them. They are sitting on pile of cash, Yes - PILE OF HARD CASH. They wouldn't buy house or any big ticket items until they get Green card. Why not give these people, who are already part of our system, conditional Permanent Residency who buy houses. I am fairly confident, touch wood, that I would not be dependent on India for a handout. I have paid my debts to the Indian society by investing in India. I did not graduate out of an IIT but I did graduate out of the 2nd best engineering college (atleast then) in Rajasthan, India. I am sure you guys would have guessed it by now. Just for the record, I had to pay full expensive tuition and my education was not subsidized. By my responsible style of life, I believe that I have become a self made man and so would hopefully be of material help but not a public burden to India. be rest assured !!!

With the level/kind of arguments that you are putting in your posts, I don't think you will be able to complete your MBA or will not survive working as a MBA. So, my suggestion is: save that 100,000 that you are planing to burn doing MBA. Use it for some other purpose.
You are not able to compete with the unskilled people even though you have more than 10 years experience, how you are going to compete with MBA's that graduate from top schools from USA and India with your phony accent. Dont waste your 100,000, use it for your child's education or maybe donate part of it to IV and someone from IV might help you in getting a JOB.

My vote is for Dr. Jaya Prakash Narayan. He has done good things as a doctor and then as a collector in AP.
Of course he stands no chance, but I think he started a movement (grassroots) - hopefully it is the beginning of some positive change.

Growth was aided by high demand for export. I have a question regarding my wife's status. Here is our current status:
She got thru H1B lottery this year and is waiting for approval. Both our I94 are valid until Aug 11 this year. I have a valid visa until 09 today. She does have a gap between Aug 11 and Oct 1, 08.
Her employer says he filed her application as COS. I believe it will be CP as there is a gap in her status. We want to travel to India after receiving her H1B approval. We will be getting our H1B/H4 visa stamping and return before Oct 1.
My questions are
1. after our return what needs to be done for my wife to work from Oct 1. Do I need to file a COS or Amendment to change her status from H4 to H1b from Oct 1?
2. If so which form will it be I-129? Is there premium processing available for this?
